This week in photos

Monday:

Still getting over the illness and taking a test.
But, I already posted these pictures...on Monday.

Tuesday - Wednesday:

Some classes,
less work,
more sleeping and the West Wing than I care to admit at this time.
I also woke up with my hair like this:

No hair product required here.

Thursday:

After class and a meeting (my second class was canceled!!!) I went up to campus and hung out with Lynnbynn.
It was nice to catch up.
Then I got a text from Bug who was doing Dancesport on one end of campus and another text from Hunter who was on the other end of campus.
I decided to play serendipity and have them meet me in the middle.
Instead of meeting me they ran into each other.
Kudos to me.

We decided to have lunch at the Brick Oven.
The following was our conversation with our server.

"So tell me what you want what you really, really want."
"We'll tell you what we want what we really, really want."
"So tell me what you want what you really, really want."

You may not get the Spice Girls reference here because you are reading instead of hearing it, but believe me it was there...and hilarious.

After Brick Oven we walked Bug back to her competition on the other side of campus.
We decided to cut through Helaman Halls via "the tunnel".
On Thursday it had this covering on it for some reason we never figured out.

No matter, we enjoyed it regardless.

After Hunter and I dropped off Bug we discovered there was a baseball game going on and decided to drop in.
Never fear, no players were injured in the taking of these photos.

Friday:

I did research for my museum class on the Ute language...and watched the West Wing.
All day.
I am ashamed.

In the evening the Padre invited Amy and I to use our All-Sports passes to go see the men's volleyball match against Cal Baptist University.

We won...soundly.

After he took us to get 50's style milkshakes with fries and gave us quarters for the jukebox machine.
It was a blast.

Saturday:

Productive day!  Finally!
First I spent the morning working on a fellowship application.
Then we had a mini barbecue courtesy of the padre.
The Padre and I took Rosie on a hike up the mountain and got 2 rocks for the backyard.

It was a little brown and grey outside but beautiful weather and an awesome hike.

After the hike the Padre, Hunter and I went over to watch another baseball game.
This time we lost, by a lot.
Still, baseball is relaxing and really fun, we enjoyed ourselves.
Deruda came home from SUU about the same time we got back from the game.

After the baseball game Hunter and I went over for a family dinner for little Hannah's birthday.
The rest of the familia couldn't attend because Bug is really, really sick.
After that we came home, hung with the familia for a bit (and poor Bug), and then I went to bed because of Day Light Savings today.

So, there you go.
A week, some pictures, and the start of another one.

Spots of Sunshine

Today I returned to the testing center for another Madame La Guillotine test. The girl who handed me my test commented on my class number (525) and said I must be really cool to take an upper level class and that she had not seen anyone in such a high class. I informed her that she had not seen any upper level courses in the testing center because we should not be taking tests. She laughed...I cried a little inside. Oh Madame, why do you give us tests instead of papers?
Oh well.

Because I was taking an exam I got to do an old tradition of mine - the test chocolate. This started in 3rd grade when my teacher gave us chocolate before our core tests. It is a delicious tradition.

Also, when I left the testing center someone had posted little happy thoughts to anyone who wanted them. Isn't that awesome!?! I took one. I was SUPER happy about my test and touches by their gesture.

Good day!

The good, the bad, the ugly.

I love smoothies!!!
(this is the good part by the way)
I saw on Pinterest that someone used a smoothie base and then froze them to use later.
I loved it.
So I did it and I have been eating them all week!

These are some of the frozen muffin tin things.
I haven't put them in a bag yet.
They are made from oranges, greek yogurt, and spinach.
Hunter says that they look like troll food.
I figure troll food must taste really good because these do.

So I stick one of those in a mason jar and add berries.

Actually this morning I added 2 or them and then many berries.
To many actually, it when from sweet to a bit tart.
Still tasty though and super healthy

Finally I add some coconut milk (because I no longer drink cow milk) and blend with my hand blender.

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the final result.
Instead I drank it.
Delicious!

On to other things
(this is the good, the bad, and the ugly)
This has been a most entertaining week.
Let me explain.

I started this week with a pretty bad bout of insomnia.
That took up the first half of the week.
I also had a bit of a sore throat but I thought that may be because of the cold weather and not sleeping...unfortunately it got progressively worse as the week went on.

During this time of unrest I worked at the temple on Monday and on Tuesday I gave a presentation.
That was by far the easiest presentation I have ever given.
You wouldn't think it would be since I put it together Tuesday morning but I was very blessed and am very, very grateful.
Blessings, blessings.

Oh, this is Megan's USB that she let me put my presentation on.

His eyes glow when he is plugged in.
Super cool.

Finally Wednesday night I slept.
And Thursday night actually, after I filled in another grant application.

Friday was pretty fantastic.
Hunter and I did our monthly Costco trip which also includes a trip to Karen's for her piano lesson.
This Friday we also went to campus to:
Turn in my grant application and pick up stuff from the department.
Go to the library.
Go to the advisement center and get Hunter an appointment.
Shop (we got Hunter a BYU Spiderman t-shirt...yep those exist) and read before Hunter's appointment at the advisement center.

Wait for Hunter while she met with an adviser.
Go get Hunter's oil changed.
While we waited for the oil change Hunter bought me lunch.

Then we went to Hunter's piano lesson,
and then Costco,
and then Wal-Mart,
and finally home to watch Skyfall.

Friday was very busy.

Since I was finally sleeping I looked forward to a long sleep Friday night.
Unfortunately it was not meant to be.

At about 2:00 am I woke up with my eyes molded shut and my throat (which got progressively worse over the week) swollen and raw.
I had all the symptoms of strep throat and pink eye...at the same time.
I was not a very happy camper, especially since I am supposed to study for a Cyndy exam this weekend.

BUT, I am trying to focus on the positive.
I wouldn't have gotten an antibiotic for my throat unless something drastic happened...like pink eye.
+1
We also had the antibiotic I needed at home so I didn't have to go to the InstaCare
+2
I was able to catch up on a lot of sleep yesterday and still study while I was bedridden.
+3

So, really, if you think about it with some perspective, the end of my week was a blessing.
In disguise of pink eye and strep throat.

Sometimes you have to go through the crappy but God's timing is always best.
  1. For example if this had happened at the beginning of the week I would have bombed my presentation.
  2. If it had happened in the middle of the week I would have missed necessary work hours.
  3. If it had happened even one day earlier I would not have had groceries for the month.

I am desperately praying that I will be able to take my test on Monday.
I don't think it will be a problem, I technically am no longer contagious.
I just look like a stoner and sound like a smoker.
No big deal.

I really am truly grateful for my blessings this week, no matter what form they came in.
Happy Sunday all!
